Lend it out. Get it back.

Lend the drill, gazebo, or pressure washer between uses

What it is

Rent, in a sentence or three

You keep the thing. A neighbour borrows it for the days you mark free, pays a rate, and leaves a refundable deposit.

Rent

Lend the drill, gazebo, or pressure washer between uses

How it works

Three steps. No MBA required.

  1. 1

Set the rate and the deposit

A price per day, a refundable deposit, and the calendar of days it is free. Say where pickup and return happen.

  2. 2

    They reserve the dates

The reservation is held while you confirm it. You can ask them to confirm who they are before you agree.

  3. 3

    Return and deposit

They bring it back. If it is as you lent it, you release the deposit. If something is broken, you can keep part or all of it.

FAQs

Questions your lot will ask

Who holds the deposit?

The deposit is part of the booking, not a sale. You release it when the item comes back, or keep part of it if something is damaged.

Can I block out days I need it?

Yes. Only the days you mark free on the calendar can be reserved.

Do I have to accept every booking?

No. A reservation is held while you confirm it, and you can ask the borrower to confirm who they are first.

What is recorded at handover?

You note the condition and can add photos, so both of you know how it went out.

Got kit that sits in the shed?

Open a stall and lend it to the people who would have asked you anyway.
